Fashiongram

Hi my loves! I apologize for the lack of post yesterday, I had some technical difficulties but things are back on track at the moment. So for most of us, Instagram is a great tool to take pictures of food porn, cute puppies, and to document our drunken evenings for all the world to see. However, there are other uses for this rapidly growing app, one of them being fashion. TONS of people are using Instagram to show off their oh-so-fab outfits of the day (#ootd) their newest finds (#whateverbrandyou'repimpingouttoday) and even to sell their merchandise (#nameofyourcompany). Bloggers (including me) are using it to promote themselves and their brand. Anyway, the point is Instagram is awesome for fashion inspiration. Here are my favorites from those that I'm currently following.

Friday Photos

I woke up this morning thinking it was Saturday...it's gonna be a long day. Anyway, I thought I'd do a little bit of photo diary action for today's post. I've had a pretty random but fun past week or so, hope you enjoy the results.

Got this hand of all pairs playing cards with my family.

Dodger had his serious face on. Too cute to resist.

Everclear playing at the Summerland concert!

Lit was my favorite band of the night.

A little post concert snack...

Decided to try a glitter mani idea that I got from pinterest.

Rainy day on the bay...

...my sister and our pup spent the day napping.

Metallic mani for the weekend.

Starbs pick-me-up before the sugarlips shoot last week.

A little pre-shoot prep

The sun FINALLY made an appearance.

Trend Watch: Florals

Floral Frocks

Midsummer is upon us and the celebs are sporting a lot of floral prints. I like floral's but they can be hard to style because the print is so busy and there's a thin line between pretty and matronly. To me, Penelope Cruz is tiptoeing right around the line but she manages to make that dress work. The best way to keep your floral dress looking stylish instead of plain is the fit (and to pair it with a dainty shoe, ahem-cough-miley, like a flat or sandal). Luckily, there's a floral frock for every shape and size. Above are some of my favorite options right now. Happy shopping!

Planning Ahead

Thinking ahead

Happy hump day! I've always hated that phrase, I'm not sure why I just said it. Anyway, I'm having a happy day. I woke up to a new cross-body bag from the lovely girls at  Ladies in Navy. I'll be doing a shoot with it sometime this week to share with all of you.

Okay, so today's subject is bittersweet. It's nearing the end of July which means we're getting into the home stretch. There's only a (GASP!) month of summer left. It's unfortunate, I know. However, it is bittersweet because I absolutely love fall. The cozy sweaters, football sundays and pumpkin spiced lattes are things I always get excited for as soon as the weather starts to cool. Now I know what you're thinking, how can you think about sweaters when it's a thousand degrees out. It's true that it's hard to think about a fall wardrobe when you're dripping with sweat from the humidity, but the fall lines are taking over the stores ladies. SO here's an idea. Add some black pieces in light weight materials to your summer wardrobe. You can pair them with bright neon colors or fun prints and still look summer fresh. Then when the temperature starts to drop, layer them with sweaters, tights and booties. BAM your wardrobe has just extended itself.

You Win: Mischa Barton (kind of)

photo cred: gofugyourself.com

you win: mischa barton

Okay, so I have to adjust today's You Win a little bit. I think Mischa looks awesome here, I love those shoes and her makeup and I love the idea of that dress. I'm not so into wearing ALL black and I don't really dig the fuzz. Maybe that's your thing, but it's not mine. So I made some adjustments. I prefer something like the Mina flare dress above. Sheer ruffles instead of fuzz and royal blue instead of black. Keep the black booties, pink lips, and long lashes. Agreed? Well maybe you're into the black fuzz, if so then agree to disagree.

Olympic Dreamin'

Wuddup?! I hope you're all having a beautiful Monday morning. I'm a little slow-to-start today, I worked all weekend and I'm pretty exhausted. I did spend Saturday night watching Lit and Everclear on the Summerland tour at PNC Bank Arts Center, which was awesome.

Today I thought I'd do a little tribute to the Olympics which are fast approaching. I love watching the games and though I'm not exactly an Olympic status athlete (okay, let's just say it, I'm a klutz) I do appreciate good sports apparel. SO I thought I show you a couple of my favorite pieces from the new Adidas and Stella McCartney line.
