Okay, so I'm not too late on posting today. My interview went well (I think) so now I'm playing the waiting game (basically every time my phone rings I hold my breath). It's day three of the what-to-wear-to-work posts and today I focused on skirts and blouses. Skirts should pretty much always be knee length or lower when going to the office (not too much lower though, you don't want to look dowdy). The last skirt here is cutting it a little close but add some tights and I think it's perfectly appropriate if you're working as a receptionist, secretary, teacher, etc. The two in the middle are definitely power outfits, all clean lines, great fits and classic accessories. The first look is a little bit of retro fun that I thought I'd throw in for s's&g's. I'm off to spend my day off staring at my phone, enjoy your humpday everyone!

Don't Skirt the Issue

Date Night Outfit Three: Dinner and Drinks
Hi guys! I'm gonna keep this post short and sweet (mostly because I just got home from work and I'm exhausted and hungry). As my final date night look I wanted to go a little bit dressy. This look is perfect for a night out (think dinner and dancing). I LOVE adding teal accents to almost everything in the summer and this is no exception. The top of the dress is plain enough that I'd suggest either doing a chunky necklace (like the one on the left) and studs or a simple one (shown on the right) with a larger earring like the hoops.
I hope you all have a beautiful weekend! xo.

Date Night: At the Fair
Hi my loves! Hope you're all having a good week so far. Since I'm currently single I was talking to a couple of my friends about dating. You know going over the good parts about it (meeting someone new, trying fun new things, being treated special) and the bad parts (awkward conversation, the nerves you get while you try not to do anything dumb in front of your date, the days spent wondering if they're gonna call/if you should call). We decided the best part of dating by far is getting dressed up to go out. Even if you're going on simple summer dates you still want to look your best and make a good impression. So for the next couple days I'll be covering a few ideas for summer-themed date ideas. The first (and my personal favorite) is inspired by some of my instagram photos from yesterday's post, a night at the fair.
I like the look above because it's feminine and pretty but still comfortable enough to wear while riding roller coasters. Bright colored skinny jeans are huge right now and I like the idea of pairing them with the really soft top and accessories. The pastel cross body will keep all of your belongings safe but you'll still have both hands free for games and funnel cake!

You Fancy Huh?: Outfit #2
Well ladies, it's time for outfit number two in my formal wear series. In my opinion, there's nothing more lady-like than a good pair of pearls. When I put them on I feel like I'm channeling my favorite fashion icon, Audrey Hepburn. In fact, this whole ensemble feels pretty Audrey inspired thanks to the Tiffany-blue dress and clutch. I love the idea of giving a demure look a bit of a fashion-forward twist by adding an unexpected pop of color. The pink pumps are daring but are balanced out by the simplicity of the rest of the look. If you really want to push the limit accessorize with a bright clutch too, like the Serpui Marie ombre clutch, above. If you'd rather keep everything besides the heels a little more low key, choose a clutch in a neutral color or one that matches your dress, like the Tiffany Co. Clutch, on the right (I really got a little carried away with the Audrey theme here huh?). Just remember, whatever you decide, wear it with confidence. Then you'll always look your best.

Bring Light to the Dark

My day job requires me to wear all black, which looks professional but can get kind of boring. It's pretty easy to find pretty black pants and tops but you can only get so creative while trying to look work appropriate. The worst part is I have to wear these ugly non-slip black shoes all the time (I'm a hostess and we need those to walk into the kitchen). So I don't have a ton of options but I like to mix things up with my accessories. A bit of color and texture can go a long way. I like wearing a crew neck black blouse with a bold bib necklace. It gives a little sophistication to an otherwise simple top. I'm also OBSESSED with stacking bracelets. I love grouping different size bracelets in the same color family together. It's a nice pop of color and texture that people always comment on. A more subtle way to bring a little life to a dark wardrobe is with a pair of unusual earrings. Earrings don't take a lot of thought, you can pop them in and easily give an outfit a face lift. I don't suggest wearing an all black outfit, at least not all the time. Still, if you don't have a choice there are way around looking boring, so no slacker excuses people!
