Work It

work wardrobe

Happy Monday people. To be honest I'm not as enthusiastic as I usually am when I say that because usually I sleep in on Monday's since it's actually like my Sunday. However, today I have an interview that I have to leave for in about an hour so I had to rise and grind. Anyway, the good news is my interview has inspired today's (and actually the next couple day's) post. Since summer is quickly coming to an end it's time for most people to get out of happy summerland and get their minds back into the real world. What better way to get back into work mode than by revamping your wardrobe. So this week as part of my prep-for-September themed posts we're going to talk work appropriate fashion. Above are three looks that use dresses and jackets, a simple go-to when getting ready for the office. However, even if all you wear are dress and jacket combos you don't need to wear the same thing everyday, mix it up, go crazy, wear a metallic blazer like the blue Valentino one above. I like the idea of mixing contrasting colors, but sometimes matching the pallet is just as nice. Experiment a little and have fun, you might find you can give your work wardrobe a facelift by trying new combos without even buying anything (the ultimate goal). Now cross your fingers and wish me luck that I get this job!

Cameron Rocks Denim

Take outfit cues from Cameron

Denim on denim outfits are always a bit of a risk, they can go from stylish to unfortunately match-y. Cameron stays on the stylish side with her light denim jacket and dark denim skinny jeans. The bright bag adds just the right touch of color. The look comes off as fresh and cool. Pair it with pumps for a touch of glam or sandals to keep things low key.

Summer Tanks for Every Style

tank trends

I apologize for the lack of post yesterday! I had some computer issues, but everything's back on track.

As the weather heats up here I've been going through my summer blouse collection and figuring out what's still salvageable for the coming months. Luckily for my wallet, I still love most of my tanks from last year so I won't have to do too much shopping. However, I still plan on picking up a few new pieces to add to my closet. If you're looking to switch things up this summer try some of the styles above.

My normal style is usually pretty girly and feminine with a touch of boho. To mix things up I think it's good to have at least one or two pieces that don't fit into your normal comfort zone. If you're like me, instead of going girly, try going for that really sexy top once in awhile. Or mix things up with a retro tank like the one above. I find that wearing something out of your comfort range once in awhile allows you to break outside of that range in other areas too. To me summer is about opportunities to try new things and reinventing yourself, and I intend to take full advantage of that.

You Fancy Huh?: Outfit #2

Wedding attire #2

Well ladies, it's time for outfit number two in my formal wear series. In my opinion, there's nothing more lady-like than a good pair of pearls. When I put them on I feel like I'm channeling my favorite fashion icon, Audrey Hepburn. In fact, this whole ensemble feels pretty Audrey inspired thanks to the Tiffany-blue dress and clutch. I love the idea of giving a demure look a bit of a fashion-forward twist by adding an unexpected pop of color. The pink pumps are daring but are balanced out by the simplicity of the rest of the look. If you really want to push the limit accessorize with a bright clutch too, like the Serpui Marie ombre clutch, above. If you'd rather keep everything besides the heels a little more low key, choose a clutch in a neutral color or one that matches your dress, like the Tiffany  Co. Clutch, on the right (I really got a little carried away with the Audrey theme here huh?). Just remember, whatever you decide, wear it with confidence. Then you'll always look your best.

You Fancy Huh?: Outfit #1

Wedding Attire #1

Ahhh Monday morning. I'm actually a fan of Monday's since they're usually my day off. I hope everyone had a fabulous Mother's Day. Now that this weekend is over I'm already looking forward to next week. One of my good friends is getting married next Sunday! I have most of my outfit picked out, I just have a few last minute accessories details to work on. Since it is wedding and prom season, I thought it would be fun to put together a couple of formal outfit ideas together for you. Today we can talk about gold. My everyday jewelry and accessories are usually silver-based but when I get dressed up I like to switch to gold. I love the color of this dress and the gold accents make accessorizing easy. The gold's you use should be close, but don't need to be perfect matches as long as they're not right on top of each other. The gold detail on the bodice of the dress makes a necklace unnecessary so I would focus on statement earrings, dainty rings and a pretty cuff or bangles. The best part of everything in the outfit above is it's all affordable!
