Happy Monday people. To be honest I'm not as enthusiastic as I usually am when I say that because usually I sleep in on Monday's since it's actually like my Sunday. However, today I have an interview that I have to leave for in about an hour so I had to rise and grind. Anyway, the good news is my interview has inspired today's (and actually the next couple day's) post. Since summer is quickly coming to an end it's time for most people to get out of happy summerland and get their minds back into the real world. What better way to get back into work mode than by revamping your wardrobe. So this week as part of my prep-for-September themed posts we're going to talk work appropriate fashion. Above are three looks that use dresses and jackets, a simple go-to when getting ready for the office. However, even if all you wear are dress and jacket combos you don't need to wear the same thing everyday, mix it up, go crazy, wear a metallic blazer like the blue Valentino one above. I like the idea of mixing contrasting colors, but sometimes matching the pallet is just as nice. Experiment a little and have fun, you might find you can give your work wardrobe a facelift by trying new combos without even buying anything (the ultimate goal). Now cross your fingers and wish me luck that I get this job!

Work It

Trend Watch: Florals
Midsummer is upon us and the celebs are sporting a lot of floral prints. I like floral's but they can be hard to style because the print is so busy and there's a thin line between pretty and matronly. To me, Penelope Cruz is tiptoeing right around the line but she manages to make that dress work. The best way to keep your floral dress looking stylish instead of plain is the fit (and to pair it with a dainty shoe, ahem-cough-miley, like a flat or sandal). Luckily, there's a floral frock for every shape and size. Above are some of my favorite options right now. Happy shopping!

Planning Ahead
Happy hump day! I've always hated that phrase, I'm not sure why I just said it. Anyway, I'm having a happy day. I woke up to a new cross-body bag from the lovely girls at Ladies in Navy. I'll be doing a shoot with it sometime this week to share with all of you.
Okay, so today's subject is bittersweet. It's nearing the end of July which means we're getting into the home stretch. There's only a (GASP!) month of summer left. It's unfortunate, I know. However, it is bittersweet because I absolutely love fall. The cozy sweaters, football sundays and pumpkin spiced lattes are things I always get excited for as soon as the weather starts to cool. Now I know what you're thinking, how can you think about sweaters when it's a thousand degrees out. It's true that it's hard to think about a fall wardrobe when you're dripping with sweat from the humidity, but the fall lines are taking over the stores ladies. SO here's an idea. Add some black pieces in light weight materials to your summer wardrobe. You can pair them with bright neon colors or fun prints and still look summer fresh. Then when the temperature starts to drop, layer them with sweaters, tights and booties. BAM your wardrobe has just extended itself.
