Trend Watch: Florals

 Midsummer is upon us and the celebs are sporting a lot of floral prints. I like floral's but they can be hard to style because the print is so busy and there's a thin line between pretty and matronly. To me, Penelope Cruz is tiptoeing right around the line but she manages to make that dress work. The best way to keep your floral dress looking stylish instead of plain is the fit (and to pair it with a dainty shoe, ahem-cough-miley, like a flat or sandal). Luckily, there's a floral frock for every shape and size. Happy Tuesday my friends! One of the things I have the most trouble with when it comes to fashion is sex appeal. Some people are SO good at it, I on the other hand feel completely awkward when I try. I've always been better at the laid back, cute, girl-next-door kind of look so that's usually what I stick to. Plus it can be a thin line between sexy and slutty, something I definitely want to avoid. The above look is glamorous and sexy, I absolutely adore the fitted bodice of that dress. Summer Style Tips: Traveling

Yesterday my sister and I were talking vacation plans for the summer and I was inspired to do a couple posts on some outfit ideas for such an occasion. I've never been one to back lightly but usually it's necessary (especially if you don't want to spend an arm and a leg on baggage costs). In order to make sure you don't over pack you should always plan out your wardrobe for the length of your stay (be sure to add in what you may need for a change in weather). My first look will cover your trip from the very beginning - the actual traveling.

Whether your going to be sitting in a plane or a car for a long period of time you need to dress comfy. However, this doesn't mean you have to look like a slob. One of the most comfortable and automatically chic pieces a girl can wear is a maxi dress. They are simple, effortless and always look fashionable. Pair it with a cozy cardigan in case the air conditioning is set too high for your comfort and a hat to put on once you've awoken from your nap (car/plane seat hair is never a good look). Keep your jewelry simple, I usually go with just studs and a watch (so I can keep track of just how long it will be until I arrive at my destination). Sunglasses are an obvious must and make sure you have a big enough carry-on bag to hold the essentials (which you can do without sacrificing style). Make sure you pack a lip gloss and a little face powder so you can look refreshed and beautiful as soon as you step off the plane!

Welcome to another week ladies! I hope you all had a fun weekend and enjoyed Father's Day with your family, I know I did. 

At the beginning of the summer I did a post on how to style a bright blazer in the summer. Today I got a little inspiration from Jennifer Aniston and Eva Longoria and decided to show you some options for bright summer blazers. Above are a bunch of options for beautiful blazers in a wide array of colors. Blazer's are not just meant for the working girl (though any of these would look cute at the office) they add sophistication to any outfit. Paired with shorts, jeans, dresses or skirts, blazers instantly streamline an outfit. What's your favorite?

Date Night Outfit Three: Dinner and Drinks

Hi guys! I'm gonna keep this post short and sweet (mostly because I just got home from work and I'm exhausted and hungry). As my final date night look I wanted to go a little bit dressy. This look is perfect for a night out (think dinner and dancing). I LOVE adding teal accents to almost everything in the summer and this is no exception. The top of the dress is plain enough that I'd suggest either doing a chunky necklace (like the one on the left) and studs or a simple one (shown on the right) with a larger earring like the hoops.

Summer Tanks for Every Style

I apologize for the lack of post yesterday! I had some computer issues, but everything's back on track.

 As the weather heats up here I've been going through my summer blouse collection and figuring out what's still salvageable for the coming months. Luckily for my wallet, I still love most of my tanks from last year so I won't have to do too much shopping. However, I still plan on picking up a few new pieces to add to my closet. If you're looking to switch things up this summer try some of the styles above.

My normal style is usually pretty girly and feminine with a touch of boho. To mix things up I think it's good to have at least one or two pieces that don't fit into your normal comfort zone. If you're like me, instead of going girly, try going for that really sexy top once in awhile. Or mix things up with a retro tank like the one above. I find that wearing something out of your comfort range once in awhile allows you to break outside of that range in other areas too. To me summer is about opportunities to try new things and reinventing yourself, and I intend to take full advantage of that.
